Who We Are
Arlen has earned the right to use the prestigious CFP® marks of distinction. Certified Financial Planner™ practitioners must complete a professional course of study followed by a rigorous two-day examination and extensive practical experience. To maintain certification, CFP® practitioners are required to satisfy ongoing education and ethics requirements.
Arlen holds a MBA in finance and international business from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri and a Bachelor Degree from Kansas State University. He has attended the highly intensive FPA residency program – a prestigious week-long program sponsored by DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois.
Arlen enjoys exploring all that Colorado and Fort Collins has to offer; from skiing in the Rockies, to hiking with his dog, a day on the golf course, or just enjoying a sunny day downtown. In addition, he volunteers his time to various local organizations and his church. He strives to give back to the community and help to make it a better place to live.
Associate Financial Planner
A spirit of service and giving back to the community are very important to Joan. She volunteers at her local animal shelter, food pantry and has prepared taxes for the Voluntary Income Tax Assistance program. Also, as part of a financial literacy program for Missouri high school students she helped create the "Top Ten Teen Financial Tips", a financial guide for young people.
In her spare time, Joan loves the outdoors. Biking is her favorite outdoor activity and she enjoys exploring the many trails in Northern Colorado. Originally from Columbia, Missouri, she is also a fan of Mizzou sports and the St. Louis Cardinals

The Garrett Planning Network is an international affiliation of Fee-Only financial planners dedicated to serving people from all walks of life. As staunch consumer advocates and Fee-Only client fiduciaries, members of the Garrett Planning Network continue to demonstrate their commitment to serving the public's best interests by making competent, commission-free financial planning and advice accessible to all people. Many financial advisors accept clients only if they meet certain income and net worth requirements. Garrett network members believe, however, that professional, objective financial advice is something all Americans need, at least periodically, to build the brightest financial futures. Holding to this philosophy, we are proud to offer the same quality, professional advice to all clients, not just the affluent.
Members bring the collective wisdom of the entire network – comprised of over 300 financial planning and allied professionals –to their own individual practices. Advice is provided on an hourly, Fee-Only basis, which means that clients pay only for the time an advisor works with or for them. In addition, some Garrett members offer their services on a retainer basis, which is the case at Guidepost Financial Plannning. Members do not accept sales commissions or third-party compensation. All compensation comes directly from their clients.
